Over the last several months I have been working very hard to raise money for a memorial playground in honor of Truman.
I was hoping to have the playground done by his birthday, but it wasn’t possible. A sweet friend suggested I organize a 5K fundraiser. I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate his first birthday in Heaven.
The 5K was a huge success thanks to everyone who participated, but it certainly would not have happened without all our generous sponsors, hard working volunteers (RRCH, Forestburg Volunteer Fire Dept, Shooting Stars) & Forestburg Baptist church.
We invited everyone in several counties and encouraged them to wear orange shirts in honor of the birthday boy.
We had a free jumping castle for the kids, a lemonade stand, and sold orange balloons and cupcakes.
Over 300 of our friends, family, and even strangers gathered around our family and prayed.
Then we released over 100 ORANGE BALLOONS!
We ran, walked, jogged, and strolled to raise money for Truman’s playground being built in his honor.
Our family continues to be upheld by our friends, family, church, & community as we walk through this valley. Today was a day I have dreaded for months more than any other day.
I just couldn’t imagine celebrating Truman’s birthday, but this was “trulee” a celebration of his life here on earth & in heaven.
As his mommy I can not express the gratitude I have for each one of you for making yesterday what it was – not just as a fundraiser, but as an act of love.
We are touched by the love you have shown us & continue to show us. Thank for allowing God to use our son’s life & death to bring good from something the devil intended for bad. Romans 8:28
