Let me tell you a little more about myself. I grew up in a Christian home and have loved Jesus as long as I can remember. I love sharing what God has done in my life. I have witnessed the good He has made out of the most painful seasons in my life like the death of two sons. I have found great comfort in continuing to share with people that God is good – even when our circumstances are beyond what we think we can bear.
If you asked me to describe myself in one word I would have to choose MOM. I’ve wanted to be a mommy since I got my first cabbage patch doll, Faith Eleanor, as a little girl. I’ve been on this motherhood journey since I was 17. Motherhood has always been a part of my plan, but it has not always gone as planned. I’ve been a teen mom, a single mom, a stepmom, a mom to lots of boys, a mom of a large family, a grieving mom, a special needs mom, and a soon to be grandma. I’m passionate about raising my kids to embrace how unique God made each of them. It is such a blessing to be able to homeschool them & watch them shine in the atmosphere we’ve created.
Homeschooling is not a checklist for us to accomplish daily – it is an atmosphere. Teaching my kids is a constant balancing act, but after a dozen years homeschooling I’ve learned to just do the next thing.
With 6 kids still at home I don’t get a lot of free time, but when I’m kidless you will probably find me with my head in a book or my fingers typing away – I love to write. Otherwise, you’ll most likely find me taking pictures (usually of my kids, but sometimes semi-professionally), sitting on my porch drinking a glass of sweet tea and watching my kids play, out exploring nature with them, or hanging out at our lake as a family. Mostly, I just love the moment with these people I get to do life with & the memories we make along the way.
