-1 John 3:20
A few hours after Trulee was born the pediatrician came into my room & gently told me she had a rather “loud” heart murmur. He was very positive & reassuring, yet concerned. Although 90% of heart murmurs in newborn babies are benign & of the 10% which aren’t, only 1% require immediate attention – he told me if the murmur didn’t improve by the following day he was going to order an EKG & echocardiogram to make sure it was not serious. He reassured me that her breathing & overall health was excellent – which would not be the case or would quickly decline over the next 24 hours if she was having serious heart problems.
Sometimes in life it seems nothing can go right & we are tempted to ask, “what next?” I have felt like that a lot the past few years. It seems we have faced storm after storm. After a while life itself can become overwhelming.
However, the next day her heart murmur was still profound & a second one had also been detected so the doctor precautiously ordered the tests we had discussed.
Instinctively I wanted to give into fear (1% is not bad odds, but we seem to be that 1% a lot.) I reminded myself of His good works & the covering He had already provided & felt tremendous peace. We prayed & gave the situation to God.
It is with great joy I share with you that HE is greater than our hearts!! All of Trulee’s tests came back revealing only structural abnormalities which will not require invasive or immediate treatment!
God is so good!
